University College Dublin (UCD), situated in Ireland, stands among the world’s premier universities and holds the distinction of being the most sought-after institution for international students in the country. Annually, UCD extends the opportunity for international students (non-EU fees) commencing a course in September to apply for the Global Excellence Scholarship.

To be eligible for the Global Excellence Scholarship, students must have received an offer (or conditional offer) to pursue a qualifying course at UCD.

Requirements for Global Excellence Scholarships Qualification

Applicants must be African, current residents of an African country, and classified as non-EU for tuition fee and application purposes;

  • Accessible to all successful applicants for eligible full-time, taught programs who are citizens and residents of Africa.
  • Eligible programs encompass both undergraduate and graduate taught programs, with the stipulation that students must be based in Dublin, and no part of the program is conferred by another institution.
  • However, all Clinical Programs are ineligible for the Global Excellence Scholarship, and a comprehensive list of qualifying programs is outlined in the Eligible Programs section.
  • Applicants must be self-funded and categorized as non-EU for tuition fee and application purposes.
  • The scholarship is highly competitive, and successful candidates, particularly for master’s programs, are expected to have achieved a first-class honors degree.
  • Scholarships are subject to annual renewal, contingent on the student maintaining an annual grade point average of no less than 3.08/4.2 (upper second class).
  • To be eligible for application, candidates must have an application status of ‘Offer,’ ‘Conditional Offer,’ ‘Accept,’ or ‘Conditional Accept.’

Selection for the Global Excellence Scholarships will be based on merit, incorporating a holistic

review of the scholarship application.
